BUOW Educational Day at Salton Sea

Barrett’s Biological Surveys assisted in writing a grant awarded by the Imperial Valley Community Foundation for Burrowing Owl education for third graders held at the Salton Sea on March 30-31, 2017.

Local third graders from the Dogwood School were bused to the Salton Sea to learn about local wildlife, bird watching, and burrowing owls on Friday March 31, 2017.

Along with the Sonny Bono Wildlife Refuge staff, local retired teachers involved with PEO, both came out to help educate the children.

Linda and Matthew explained the different types of shore birds they were seeing at the sea. They also taught the children how to properly use and take care of the binoculars.
